Q: How long have you guys been operating for?

A: Cams Contracting has been providing services to the KW Region, Oxford County and London area for over 58 years now. We have over 13 years experience in the trade.

Q: When building my fence do I need a permit?

A: No. If you are not building a fence enclosure around a pool, You do not need a permit for building a fence, but some areas have certain laws such as height restrictions. Corner lots typically have to have the fences 60 inches (5 ft) from the curb. If you are building a fence around a pool yes- you will need a permit.

Q: Do I need a permit to construct a deck?

A: It depends on height. In certain areas the city has a maximum height before you need a permit to construct your deck. Check with the city to see what the height restrictions are in your township. Most are between 12-24 inches in height off the ground. We take care of all deck drawings and deal with the building officials to ensure a stress free experience.

Q: How do you know what our property lines are if I don’t?

A: When you purchase a home you are supplied with a survey of the land that outlines the property markers. We use that information to construct our fences. If you do not have a survey available we can use stakes that have been placed in the ground for reference or reach out to local building officials to see if the township has a survey on record.

Q: What do I do about the Hydro and Gas lines?

A: Before we can start a project, all locates must be completed. These normally take about 5-10 business days for all utilities to be marked. Since we are the contractor doing the work, We take care of booking the appointment at no extra cost.

Q: Will your equipment ruin my grass?

A: We have implemented the use of ground protection matts to drive our equipment over to prevent damage to softscaped areas.

A: Yes we have the standard 5 million liability, and we have WSIB clearance for property maintenance and fences and decks.

Q: How often do you come to cut our lawn?

A: We like to have grass cut once a week, giving optimal growth time between cuts as well as not letting it get too long where insects can inhibit the grass.

Q: Why do you bundle aerating, fertilizing, overseeding and lawn rolling into one package?

A: We do this because it is the best way to get a perfect green lawn. The fertilizing, aerating and overseeding promote growth, while the lawn rolling removes imperfections in the grass and ensures the nutrients are driven into the ground.

Q: Does lawn rolling hurt my grass?

A: No. Lawn rolling is the perfect solution for removing bumps in the grass also driving nutrients into the roots of the grass. It is best to do lawn rolling when the grass is fully dry, late spring, early fall.
